The purpose of this manual is to provide a comprehensive reference source for those Authorities that have the responsibility for conducting land search and rescue operations within Australia.

This manual has been developed by a national working party consisting of representatives from the SAR Authorities that make up the NATSAR Council.  This includes the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, the State/Territory Police agencies, and the Australian Defence Force.  Input was also received from State/Territory Emergency Services.  The working party was initiated and sponsored by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

The last update to parts of the Manual was completed in March 2014.

Proposed changes to this document should be forwarded to the NATSAR Council Secretariat at NationalSARCouncil@amsa.gov.au.

The National SAR Council is unable to provide hard copy versions of the manual.

The manual is available to access in sections:
