The 37th meeting of the National SAR Council was held at the Lenna of Hobart, Tasmania on 6-8 November 2013.

Revised Inter-Governmental Agreement

The revised IGA for National SAR Arrangements was signed by the Standing Council of Police and Emergency Ministers on 29 June 2012.

2007 National Search and Rescue Award

The National Search and Rescue Award will be presented during the National SAR Council meeting on 15 November 2007 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Melbourne.

The 2007 meeting of the National SAR Council will be held at the Crowne Plaza, Melbourne from 15 to 16 November 2007.

2006 SAR Council Meeting

The National SAR Council has met for its annual meeting in Sydney in November 2006. The major outcome of the meeting was the progression of the incorporation of the Land SAR Operations Manual into the National SAR Manual; and the raised importance of developing common reporting of statistics for SAR incidents. Defence Accepts National SAR Manual as Procedural Reference

The National Search and Rescue Manual has been accepted by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) as the standard procedural guide for coordinating ADF search and rescue activities within the Australian SRR. The letter of promulgation can be seen on page 3 of the National Search and Rescue Manual.

2004 Council Report

IGA on National Search and Rescue Response Arrangements

An Inter‑Governmental Agreement (IGA) on national SAR response arrangements has been signed by the relevant Commonwealth and State/Territory Ministers.

Revised AS/NZ Standard for 406 MHz Distress Beacons

Standards Australia have advised that the revised AS/NZ Standard 4280:2003 Parts 1 and 2 covering 406 MHz EPIRBs and PLBs is expected to be available from 7 November 2003. See the AMSA Beacons website for more information.

Bushwalkers, PLBs and the RCC

There has been some discussion on bushwalking groups about the use of PLBs - often referred to as EPIRBs - and the likely action, or inaction, that RCC Australia takes. See the AMSA Beacons website for more information.

Ground to Air signals have changed over the years. Latest versions are in Appendix E, page 251 of the National Search and Rescue Manual.
